Yes, for any Florence & The Machine enthusiasts you'll realise that these are her lyrics. I was once asked to pick one song, 'my song'. Me being me i chose two, Florence, and Natasha Bedingfield - Strip Me. They have been played uncountable times but they sum up my journey with rape.
It seems to be the single word left in the english vocabulary which can still make people cringe and shy away.
I was raped when i was 16 and it has been a 3 year 'translucent journey'. I, like most didn't talk to anyone about it and so now, feeling empowered by my journey of overcoming those 3 years want to help anyone who needs help dealing with rape. I'm no expert, but i feel that being well and truly human about things is why i feel like myself again today.
